Great blog Shelly! Glad you shared the link.
My post is not about whether it is *possible* to teach paperless. It's about students' resistance to eBooks. I see on your blog you are also interested in the issue of whether or not to "nix textbooks altogether"--it's complicated, surely.
Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Josip, thanks for stopping by and checking in. Your perspective is always so insightful.

I must say I really get it when you confess to being positioned "at the great divide" between paper and digital formats---I am too.

Also in agreement with you, I think in a handful of years this may be a moot point, as you say, with the upcoming iGeneration and their digital primacy.

Thanks for engaging. I'll get myself over to your amazing blog on all things Gen Y (http://itsjosipnotjoseph.com) and return the favor :)

As a Millennial myself, I often find myself at this great divide of eBooks and printed books. Though I do appreciate the idea of saving paper, my biggest issue with eBooks is its absolute lack of print book experience. As an avid reader, I hardly read in one straight line from beginning to end. Often I find myself flipping through pages, going back and forth. From my experience with eBook readers, I can't do that. And this is just a POV from a reading standpoint. Not to mention a variety of other distinctions between the two.

In my mind, it's not about replacing one for the other immediately. I very much did a lot of print reading during my stay in education but I also used digital means. I still read print books only but maybe that's because I grew up with books. For younger Gen-Y who are inherently growing up digitally, eBooks might be a more clear reality. As the title states, "teach paperless? Not yet."
